I've found quite a few pics of light green stratos's while trawling the various galleries & was wondering was it a factoy colour or what? Is it a particular shade, it seems almost lime but a bit duller.
It's the colour for me anyway when the time comes, looks stunning.

It was an original colour, verde Chariot i think. If i was having a single colour then that would be the one

Not heard it called Rosso chiaro before John, but then my Italiano isa not so good. :)
Red/Orange-171 is what I've always described mine as and I believe is the original straight red used.

I spent ages tracking this one down for my car. The metallic grey for the spoilers too. Eventually got what I think are the right codes from a very old PPG Fiat colour chart. I think I can provide the mixing codes for modern 2-pack if you need them (have a couple of tins of colour left from the paint job).

Hopefully I will need them Chris but it'll be a year yet I think, cheers.

I'll dig them out so you can keep a record handy....

I spent a long time agonising over colour....but always found myself drawn back to the green cars at shows. Almost went for a totally non-original Ford metallic blue at one point.

If I went for a rally rep it would be Alitalia. Suppose there is always time for a re-spray once I forget how much it cost me the first time round......

Ouch. Just remembered how much the original paint cost 16 years ago and how much the respray was when I converted to Gp4 in 1994.

Going to be hard to get the paints in two-pack if the legislation is rigorously enforced, as of about now IIRC.

The restrictions only apply to automotive use so it's not exactly as if two-pack won't be available but possibly in a much reduced range of colours. Bit of a shame but I'm sure I can get it for my suspension parts (don't want powder coating).

Mick - your son is in this business IIRC? Can you shed some light on it?

Good point Peter, I'd forgoten about that...but the codes should still work as they are modern. The people who did mine couldn't do anything useful with the original codes at all, hence all the time I spent trying to track down alternatives. Others have had more luck though, so it seems to depend on who you use.

It wasn't the colour codes I was thinking of Chris.

What I had in my mind was that if the use of high VOC paint like cellulose was effectively ended and also the use of two-pack with its hard high gloss straight from the gun similarly ended for automotive use, what will be used to paint the cars?

Water-based will be used, I suppose, but I'm given to understand that it's not as durable (as two-pack). Possibly less of a d-i-y process too (but then again, two-pack was risky without the right gear). I also have been told that the water-based is only for the colour coats and that the lacquer will still be two-pack. I don't find the appearance of a clear coat paint to be as attractive as the older solid colour type like two-pack and cellulose. Certain basic colours will still be available for non-automotive use is how I understand it so black suspension bits should be OK.

Just random thoughts here.
