air intakes

Seen these on any different cars, in the front part where the indicatiors are located.

Where do these air intakes go to?

On the inside of the air intakes ( next to the grille ) are some kind of lamps :confused: Does anyone know what they are? Does anyone have a close up picture of that part?

i would think the air intakes would be ducted to the front brakes. Not sure about the small lamps though?
