All,

Engine dropped in this weekend, which was surprisingly easy. However I am wondering how I should locate the alternator. Most images show the alternator lower down and tighter into the engine (as I see it) and not on the existing mountings. I am using an Alfa 12v.

Would appreciate a view of where best to locate and what additional metal work may be required.

Thanks

Iain

Hi Iaian,

I used the existing mounting that was on the front low end of the engine ( 12V ) , I believe it was from the servo pump or airco. I sliced a bit of on the right side and fitted the alternator with no problem. I also used the Alfas adjustor rod to tighten the belt.
I havent had the engine back in yet but i think others have also gone that route?? The only tiny problem is the pulleys are different in width, so i have to find a suitable belt.
Here are some pictures:

Iain, Dave AK has his mounted on the back end of the engine for easy access. I believe they're originally mounted so it would be against the bulkhead.

All,

Thanks very much. I still have the casting so I'll take a look at how best to to carve it up and get it all pieced together.

Regards

Iain
