It looks like a manual - there is a picture of the interior on E-bay.

You're right about it being given away. Under 20 pounds to start, with no reserve. I guess he's counting on a lot of bidding to get the price up.

Thanks Scott, the picture wasn't clear on my screen! I emailed the seller who has confirmed that teh geabox is manual.

When I was chatting recently at Ken Bell's garage (aka Alfanatic), they told me that they are often given 164s for nothing .

Usually because the cost of repair is more than the car would be worth. The engines don't usually go wrong in any major way, but the repair costs still mount up pretty quickly. Once a car is brought in to the garage as an mot failure, the quote can be much more than the owner wants to pay for fix it.

I wish I'd known when these vehicles might have been available, but then I'd also have to collect and dispose of the wreck myself!
