Anybody been inside one of these?
I've installed HID units in my headlights, one works perfectly, the other blows the fuse when turned on - looks like the power unit is shorting inside - I'm wondering if its worth taking the top off, or just binning it.

I took the top off - nothing to lose really. The "works" inside is encased in rubber gunge that has been poured in after manufacture. There is a short from the power input to earth, but no easy way of tracing it, so I bought a replacement from the people that John Rutter has organised the deal with. Next day delivery, £50 inclusive for the ballast unit, and the whole thing now works properly. Result.
I don't think I'll put HID in the pod yet - £too much. Not sure which bulbs I'd use in there either. The lamps are for H4 bulbs, and I have them wired to have dip & high beam on together. The HID bulbs seem to be HID dip/normal high, or move the single HID bulb from main to dip position.
