If you feel like voicing your opinion on political misuse/misrepresentation of issues related to global warming, why not add you name to this poll
http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/cchonesty/
Not that it will make any difference - but be interesting to see how many votes it gets.

Well spotted John,
Without wanting to create storms of arguments, anyone who watched Channel 4's 'Great Global Warming Swindle' on Thursday should be left in no doubt that we are all being lied to by the governments of the world.

Arguing about the exact cause of global warming doesn't alter the problem of it's existence. ;)

True, but it might prevent governments and others wasting billions trying to prevent something that is beyond their control.

Exactly my point. Billions of OUR money raised through false taxes.

Yep,
The channel 4 prog was a blinder.
I'm all for sulphur reduction, NOX reduction, reducing dependence on fossil fuels (except for the odd tankful for the beast) etc - but let's do it for the right reasons - not this load of cods.
It's going to get warmer - hooray. Not a damn thing I can do to stop it, other than cool a few beers down and crank up the barbie. Double hooray.
I'll burn charcoal - carbon neutral. I'll drink alcohol - carbon neutral. I'll be wind-powered for the rest of the evening, so It looks pretty good so far. Boozers apparently live longer anyway, and it seems from latest studies that your life-span and health problems are more genetic than lifestyle-induced, so we can thankfully all stop worrying completely and get on with it.
It's a one-way trip, no second go - enjoy!

Obesity is lifestyle induced, and the biggest threat to health. the current generation of children will be the first in history to have a shorter life expectancy than their parents. Cheerful thread!

Obesity?
Worse than smoking? Maybe I'll have to cut the fat down and increase the fag intake. Although I suspect blood pressure is the real problem, watching the crap coming out from the glorious organs of government we're so lucky to have working for us.
It is a worrying thread - I thought the little buggers would be paying for my funeral, not me paying for theirs. Is that another bloody expense plus VAT that I have to allow for? Or is it a cunning plan form Gordon so we've got nowhere to park the money, and have to pay him 40%? B$%£*^d.

You know, we had the exact same problem with the British government in my country about 221 years ago... ;)
Maybe our solution will work in your case, too. :D

Well I don't mind chucking chests of tea into Boston Harbour if you think it might do some good but I don't think the locals will be too impressed. :p
Or was it the whole declaration thing you had in mind? :)

Interesting thread.... what does everyone think will happen when the inevitable oil crisis hits? WWIII? someone stepping up to the mark with new technology  , fission comming of age (or is it fussion??? ) everyone getting a grip and stopping using so much energy?
Something I read somewhere and thought was interesting: a farmer who uses basically 18thC technology (horses etc) uses 1/1000th of the energy per unit area (ie acre) that an intensive farmer does, but only gets around 1/3rd the yield - is that still 300 times more efficient? thats probably discribed as progress.
Maybe I should stop looking for that alfa V6 and hitch up the mules!!! ;)

Don't let the bastards get you down, guys... and do what I do... Whatever "Big Brother" takes from you by what-ever means, make sure you get it back from him tenfold... There are ways... any good accountant and lawyer can advice you... Nudge, nudge, wink, wink... say no more...!!!
And you can have fun doing it...
