Hi all,
Just recieved my tyres, had them fitted to Gerry's rims. Front tyres were ok with balancing but the rear ones ( Michelin Tb 295/40 -15 ) have big imbalance, they would require a lot of weights. Has someone have the same expeirience.
Would it make any difference to drive the tyres for a while to let them settle and then balance them
Where do you guys have the lead weights, on the inside or the outside of the rim?
Thanks,
BAS

Have you tried rotating the tyre on the rim through 180 degrees? Or run the rim only on the balancing equpment and see what you get, that way you would know if the rim was out of balance or the tyre.

Hi Brent
Both tyres had the same imbalance, turned one tyre 180 degrees on the rim, made only a little difference. did not try the rim itself.

Commercials use a dust to balance the tyres, could you not try that?

My tureman talked about it but according to him they use in larger vehicels, personal cars pull up to fast for the dust to setttle

I'd have thought that the wheels would be balanced before they left the factory.

Corse is the same.
Last time I had a set of boots fitted, I had to have three sessions on the balancer, finally ending up with as close to zero as the guys could get - the usual tolerance isn't good enough; the front of the car is too light.
I even have to mark the hole the locking wheel nut goes in - that's enough to feel if I get it wrong.
