Has anyone that has gone from beta power to V6 Alfa power got a before and after weight for their stratos.
I am interested in the difference in the installed weights.

There was a discussion on this in the forum ?6-8 months ago. I remember using it to decide if the engine crane would be strong enough. The engine weight alone isn't the whole story, but it's probably worth a trawl through the archive for any other weights given in that thread.
I was told that my Hawk was 850kg with the lancia Twink, but minimal unfinished interior and some trim missing. No doubt Alloras come in different. (See Cars & Car Conversions article on the two replicas last summer; John Rutter's race car quoted at 900kg in the Kit Car article on it Jan 2002)
A 24v will have to be 1060 Kg at the time to pass it's logbooking for rallying, a 12v less but I can't remember what. As per blue book K 37. (See archive too)

According to Dave Walker at the CCC test, my Allora was 944Kg. That was with nearly empty fuel tanks. It didn't have any sump guard, etc at the time, so I would expect it to be a little heavier in rally trim. It's a 12v V6.
Also according to Dave Walker, Tony Aylott's Corse I was 960Kg. This surprised me a lot, as we had expected the Corse I to weigh quite a bit less than the Allora. It had it's sumpguards on, and had full fuel tanks though.

My Corse I 24V is 990Kg on the road, but was only 950Kg with the previous V6 12V turbo, despite shedding turbos, intercoolers etc. The 24V is fair bit heavier up top and I could feel it!

David,
You're saying the 24v is more than 40kg heavier than the 12v?
I'd have expected a bit of extra weight for the cams, etc, but not that much.

The 24v has the oil cooler extra plus a bigger alternator, but I'd have thought the loss of the turbo would more than compensate.
Alfa Romeo give a 30kg kerb weight increase for the 24v 164.

Both setups were using the same oil coolers, alternators, etc and obvioulsy no power-steering or a/c pumps, but I can't be sure how accurate these weighbridges are and exactly how much fuel and spares I had on board at the time.
The old V6 was a 2L (Italian) model which may be somewhat lighter for the short-throw crank.
The farmer who was driving the tractor I used to swap the motors, said he struggled more with the 24V unit.
I agree that 40Kg sounds a bit high but them the heads are a whole lot more complex (incuding additional coils and sensors).
