Stratos 30th Anniverary

Most of us are aware of Abingdon in June but........

Does anyone know what events (and where) are cracking off to celebrate the anniversary of the Stratos wether for replicas or original or both ?
I do hope that both originals and replicas can have one huge get together.

Does anyone have any suggestions ?????

I don't know if anything similar is planned for this year, but the Auto Italia event at Donington last year included an Abarth meeting of some sort (as well as various race events that weekend - but unfortunately I didn't get along there).

Perhaps a similar sort of event could be used to bring together real and replica Stratos' in one place?

Or try to get invited along to some other event, such as the Ferrari Festival? They might be interested if owners of the original Strat's wanted to attend, perhaps we could piggy-back something?

This of course needs someone to contact organisers and to co-ordinate anything that may happen.

I'm trying to do something special for Abingdon as a 30th Anniversary. Don't want to say anything yet in case it doesn't come off, but I hope to have it all sorted out by early-Feb.



Another thing I thought of possibly trying was to get a gathering to go to Spain in October.

The first Stratos rally win was the Firestone Rally in Spain, so really the Catalunya Rally,which is a WRC round in October, should really be the focal point for a worldwide celebration.

Maybe, if Chris Smith is organising his European Tour this autumn, he could be persuaded to head it towards Barcelona for 22-26 October 2003.

Last year Chris & Jane Smith didnt organise an "open invite" trip
they decided to go on their own to Italy....so I dont know wether or not they would be interested in organising a trip to Spain...I guess they would need to know how much interest there was...because having seen how much work is involved in organising such a trip it is not a task to be taken lightly especially as they havent organised a trip like this to Spain before so they would be starting from scratch as it were. I'll leave you all to think about it !

Just had confirmation that one original Gp4 Stratos will be at Abingdon, and am awaiting word on a couple more. Hope to have drivers lined up soon.
