While preparing the interior floorpan I noticed a very small amount of water pooled in the passenger side, so I cleared it up and set about sealing the numerous little drill holes in the floor (I have no idea why they were there in the fist place).

Today when cutting and installing the soundproofing, I noticed that the water is there again, only this time theres more. (car is in my garage so its not rainwater). So I've come to the conclusion that the heater matrix must be leaking as the level in the coolant expansion tank has dropped slightly.

So, out comes the bloody dash again

Short term I will have to alter the pipework to bypass the entire heater matrix altogether so I can at least finish the carpet trimming, but I want to keep the option of having some control over the heating by fixing the problem.

While I'm at it I need to fit a bypass valve can anyone recommend a good manual valve that can be fitted? I would like to fit a new item if possible.

Was the heater matrix used on the Hawks taken from the Lancia Beta donor car? - I cant remember (its an age thing) and I would check all my documentation but its all packed away in preparation for the house move.
