Anybody fitted 335.35x15, how much difference as far as filling the arches do they make compared to the 345`s. Or does somebody know where I can get any 345`s , seem to be very thin on the ground at the moment :(

General opinion is you are better with the 295 section tb. I originally wanted the bigger tyre but was persuaded not to. Personally i think the wheel/tyre combo as fitted to Bernards car looks the business(except for the lack of paint) :D Same combo on Ken tomblins car.

I'm reasonably close to Warrington. jeffreys (http://www.jeffreyshpt.co.uk/) quoted me around £240 inc for an in stock 345 Pirelli. Are there any decent pics of the narrower combo out there?

Sounds a lot better for price & availability, would be good to see some pics.
Is the narrower tyre better for grip & handling or just availability....

Over the years i have asked the question many times, is the narrower tyre better? The bulk of people say yes, the handling is better. Also both the 295 and 335 will fit on the Hawk coffin spokes. 295's fitted on Bernards.
As for a pic, If you have the new SEC calendar, take a look at Bernards chardonnet car in the snowy village street. To me that looks the dogs danglies
295 TB's from longstone tyres(on the web) Tell them what they are for and they will recommend the correct compound. Probably won't last as long but grip a LOT better.

Been looking at all the tyre options for the 12J rears and am struggling :( Apart from Pirelli and TB's options, what else is available on a 15" rim?

I asked last year if anybody wanted any but nobody stuck their hand up  Had a dozen lined up but couldn't afford all of them. tyreshopper say they have stock at 219.00 apiece.

Are the Yoko's any good? I did read a thread where Guy mentioned he'd used Yoko's not sure which ones and they were pants in the rain!!!
The sizes are also restrictive!! Are 285/40 and 205/50's ok to use? This site (http://www.tyresite.com/product.asp?numRecordPosition=21&P_ID=260&strPageHistory=&strKeywords=&SearchFor=&PT_ID=21) is also competitive... comes in @ £ 577.18

Hi Allen - I had 225*50*15 and 345*35*15 Yokohamas for a while and the car was very very nervous in the wet. Completely different with same size Pirellis P Zeros.

Thanks Guy, can you remember which Yoko's they were?

Both Chris Smith and Bernard have them. I would think any 345 size tyre would be nervous in the wet, too wide.

Road..285/40 x 15 Yoko's.............Ok not brilliant in the wet.... get a fair few miles out of them as they are a hard compound.
Track..295/40 x 15 Michelin TB15... excellent grip in wet and pretty good in the dry (4th overall at New Brighton Sprint a couple of years ago when it pithed down...only beaten by 4x4's)
for road ny next set will be Michelin TB5
Been in a Strat with 345 rears and for me there is too much rear wheel steering (just my opinion)

"for road my next set will be Michelin TB5"
Are you looking to use TB5's on the road? Aren't they really sticky?

No Allen, TB5s are harder than TB15s.
Looks like Bernard's planning to use TB5s as an alternative to his road wheel set, instead of the Yokos. Ken Tomblin has been using TB5s all round for some time now on his group 4 car. Ken has been on the Continent with his car, so I'm guessing there was a mileage concern with a TB15 choice. Historically I've never done much more than 2000 miles per year, so I'd always go for a full set of TB15 given the choice. Bernard can have the best of both worlds as he's got two sets of group 4 coffin spokes.

I'm fully aware of this situation. Blame my former employers for making me redundant.
Anyhow, back to the trivial stuff.
Here's a 285 road tyre (Yoko A001) but an AVS looks similar.

And lastly, a 335 TB15 on Hawk's demo chassis. I don't think anyone is running these yet, so I don't know how they go, but here's how they look.
I still think the jury's out on the 335 TBs? You couldn't argue against the fact that they are exactly the right size tyre for a 12" rim. They are narrower than a 345 road tyre, but still protect the vulnerable thick outer rim of a Hawk coffin spoke wheel. Having said that, Bernard's advice about the 295 TB must be taken into account. We know quite a lot about the 295 TBs and both sizes of road tyre, but nothing much about the 335 TB at this stage.

Tryphon recomended using TB5 on the rear and TB15 on the front as it will have more grip

Thanks Phil & Chris, The Yoko's are discontinued according to Milton Keynes... non in the UK but 20 available...coming from Japan, due to dock next month then that's it!!! All these web sites offering the tyres are total rip offs... talked to 2 and was told if we can't source them then we'll refund!! Eventually.... So it's TB's then...

Talked to Dougal @ Longstone and he recommends the 295 / 215 set up.. Compound is personal choice.. Tyres sorted :D
