Can anybody help:

I had aftermarket Brembo 4pot brake calipers fitted to my GRIV stratos, they have a silly handbrake mechanism where the pad on one side is fitted to a fixed plate. The work was done about 6 years ago by GBEng, but I beleive the supplier of the brake parts went out of business (not surprising!)

The brake operation relies on this plate flexing to engage, and it has proved impossible since they were fitted to adjust (therefore no MOT)
I am using Technomagnesio coffin 5-stud 12" wheels. I am not sure of the disc size.
I feel the only way is to get new calipers that have an integral mechanical handbrake mechanism.
Answers appreciated

David,

I have a similar set-up on my car, 12" discs with 4 pot AP calipers. I use an AP
handbrake caliper, was used on Grp A Cossies I think - here is a pic
- http://www.stratossupersite.com/photos/showphoto.php?photo=566&sort=1&cat=500&page=1.
It did require a spacer as the discs were too thick, but passed SVA no problem.

A lot of the Ultima boys use AP or Brembo calipers on their cars, here is a Brembo
h/b caliper - http://www.ultima-gtr.info/pics/010902rbfitted.jpg.

Hope this helps.

Cheers, Chris

Have you considered keeping the mechanical handbrake mechanism in place if it appears to work and then plumbing in a hydraulic handbrake? Not strickly legal but effective!

Thanks chris, looks like a good solution

Guy, thanks for the idea, that would probably work too, though I think i'll fix it up properly

Cheers
