I see the weight of the Alfa 12V as measured by Mogul is 249kgs (with starter, gearbox, alt etc). Does anyone know the weight of a Volumex (again with and gearbox/starter/alt etc)?

I just want to do some power to weight calcs before I go diving in!

Hi Mark
I think it's about 215kg ish with the box but I never did get to measure my Vx engine.
It may be in the Guy Croft book if anyone has one to hand?

Cheers
Rob

...Just fount this site too which has engine and box weights. doesn't have a Vx specifically but if you took a Fiat twin cam and an Alfa box you'd be in the right ball park. http://www.bacomatic.org/%7Edw/txt/engfyi.htm

I started with 4 cylinders , but converted and do not regret it, the ALFA feels a lot heavier engine , if I was sprinting I would consider the 4 cylinder an advantage, for road the alfa, and for stage rallying no question the V6
but you must fit the right gearing.

Thanks Guys.

Good point on the gearing. The engine I bought has the 24V Cloverleaf box (which I was told is quite hard to get hold of now, but is the right thing to have????). Is this the best bet, or do I have to split and start changing ratios etc??
