How do the adjusting part(s) work on the Hawk/Transformer 'standard' set up? I know that there's a long 'nut' part with 2 flats on the end that you turn to change position of the horseshoe, but is the part with the 2 flats threaded on the inside? That is, should it turn on the thin link that is fastened to the bottom of the handbrake lever?

My handbrake has a primary hydraulic function which I'm doing away with and I think the normal mechanical bit has been modded.

Threaded rod screws into adapter at bottom of lever, held in by locknut. Horseshoe fits over rear end of this rod, held on to it by tube nut, (which I think is the thing you're describing). Screwing the tube nut forward up the rod pulls the horseshoe forward tightening the cables. I didn't have a tube nut, but welded three ordinary nuts together - do this with them mounted on a bolt so that the threads are congruent. Don't weld them onto the bolt! ;)

Thanks Chris,

I think I understand how it's supposed to be.

My adaptor, tube nut and threaded rod are all one piece at the moment.
