No Baldrick.
The car that won the kitcar section was a Teal 95 Bugatti replica. Beautifully done, with a Jaguar straight six. The noise through five feet of straight pipe was fantastic! The guys that raced those with drum brakes and no safety equipment (apart from an on-board mechanic to land on) were/are brave indeed.
I'm now off down to Cornwall or somehere down near the equator to pick up a 1933 Rolls Royce 20/25 and drive it back up here. Not mine unfortunately. I thought long and hard about tools and spares to take (that you're allowed to take on a plane) but have settled on a Good Pub guide and an AA card as the things that fit easiest in Plus 4s and tweed jacket. To coin a phrase, I may be gone some time.... :)

I have just bought a Bugatti Type 51. It is not real but uses an origianl replacement chassis and many original parts. One thing I can tell you is that the brakes are something you need to think about a long time befor eyou need to use them. As for handling and performance...I was shocked, here is a car built in teh early 30's which would leave a lot of modern cars in it's exhaust smoke. Fabulous cart like handling and tremendous accelleration. I really fabulous car.

Gary there is no such thing as an original Bugatti. 99,99% of those you see around are replicas/immitations.

This is what you need to stop a Stratos:

Same as the factory cars.
and really will you ever drive yours fast enough to need them :p
As you may already know brakes are subject to friction when used which, in turn, causes wear. You should always avoid braking to eliminate wear.
