If you plug the appropriate diagnostic computer into this, will it tell you the rpm? My chip seems to be rev limiting at 6200, not 7300. I want to coroborate my Fiat tacho, so I can send the chip back for reprogramming. Or is the only option a strobe light on the crankshaft pulley?

Surely somebody must have had the engine plugged into a garage computer?

OK, I now have! :)
Confirmed that my rev limit is set at 6500, should be 7300. Oh goody, I'll be able to go even faster then!

YOU BET!
The 24v really sings up there Chris wanting to rev even higher. Sounds Orgasmic

Enjoy! :D

Far as I know the Alpha disgnostic plug only gives up fault codes.
To get the engine speed, you need a pulse-driven whatsit clamped on a plug lead (remember those Gunson stobe lights? Top of the range jobs had an engine speed indicator as well).

No, when plugged into one of those diagnostic jobbies, the 24v ECU gives data. Just as well since the coil-on-plug setup would stop you usinga a Gunsons. (I had one sitting on the shelf, but it had died at some point in the last 20 years!)
