Beta Wing Mirror

Hi,

Does anyone have a spare foot for the Beta (series 1??) wing miorror... The one that looks like the original stratos mirror.

I have the main body and stalk, but the foot is knackered.

Also.. I need to remove the mirror from the body... Is their a knack to doing this without breaking the plastic shroud... Can someone point me in the right direction please.

Hi Andy, no Beta mirror parts unfortunately but I dismantled mine successfully for painting. The cast/chromed body can be separated from the plastic mirror holder with a little patience but you do risk breaking the glass. On mine there was a "cup" in each corner that fitted over what I can only describe as a shake proof washer riveted to the inside of the mirror body. I used a razor blade in the top corners to lever the top left and right away simultaneously and then the bottom left and right until it was free. Reassembly was by placing the glass/plastic surround on a solid flat surface and gently tapping the body down onto it.
Hope that helps. If the glass is discoloured you can get them recut to pattern by a glazier but refitting to the plastic surround might present some problems so try not to break it in the first place.
