View Full Version : Alfa Wiring Loom - Water proof multi-pin screw connectors

Does anyone know where I could get a reasonable quality multi pin screw connector?
It must be water proof and take the 28 odd wires in the alfa engine loom. I have re-routed all the injection and other sensor wires wires so that they all come together in one neat loom. As this loom now has to pass through the bulk head to the computer and existing loom, I thought a nice neat screw connector would look good and finish the job professionally.
I have 2 such plugs, both BOSCH rescued from the 164 Alfa rear doors that would do the trick. The problem is that although I have the plugs I can’t find a suitable source of new male and female pins. Our local Dick Smiths male variety are unfortunately far too short.
I may end up having to use 2 ugly white plastic block connectors.
Has anyone seen a good alternative or know where I should try? The screw fitting would be detachable from engine fire wall.

You should try RS who stock a wide range of suitable multipole connectors, they probably have the pins to suit the Bosch connectors you already have as well.
If you want to spend more you could use Mil spec connectors such as Raychem available from Tony James Wiring.

I agree with Colin about the MIL spec connectors. We use Amphenol connectors at work and you won't find better quality, as long as you don't mind olive green! RS aren't the cheapest but at least you can buy them individually. Also, check the AB Connectors range of miniature bayonet connectors (AB05’s) at

Thanks for your help here, seems a few in the club have a similar problem trying to find a good reasonably priced water proof CPC (Circular Plastic Connector) plug.
To tidy up the Alfa wiring loom I had to cut through the main computer loom and then carefully re-thread and shorten all the engine related wires back through a new single 23 wire “engine loom”. This now runs round the back of the engine past the inside of the cam wheels picking up the idle motor, injector, air, water temp and crank sensors by the fuel rail. To join this new loom back to the computer loom I had the usual choice of cheap plugs, soldering wire to wire or a multi-pin plug.
As I am a believer in using what you got first, I have chosen the multi pin plug option which should look the best and aid future engine removal. The plug means I will be able to easily disconnect all wires at one point rather than disconnecting wires at the sensors, injectors etc.
The plug I used was the screw CPC plug (with 23 positions) that came from the rear doors of the donor Alfa 164 with my own wire strain reliever. (A part no longer made AMP part ref 927373). As the original pins can’t be reused I need to source some new ones. Thanks to yours and a number of other suggestions I found a few web sites including www.amp.com (one of the easiest and most useful) which links to Tyco (has a global catalogue) and the local NZ agent.
That site has approx 500 similar types of pins so have sent them a sample to match size and shape.
Fingers crossed they come up with a result at a reasonable price.
Thanks again

Hi Guys
If anyone wants to reuse the Alfa multipin plug the pin part numbers from tyco are
Male pin 164164-1, Female pin 66101-2.
Both are very common and currently made.
