Having just driven the car for the first time in the rain, sorting out the wiper has risen to near the top of the must fix list. Can anyone tell me the best arm and blade length to use?

I'm sure you are not the only person with poor wet vision. The uniquely curved screen means that no matter how you adjust the wiper, the angle of attack varies significantly as it moves across. If it wipes well in one direction it doesn't work in the other and/or rattles about.

I found a series of (cheap) wipers in a local supermarket that had a lot of play in the various jonts, which allowed the blade to move more than usual, and they worked reasonably for a while.

I use 550mm (22") blades on a 465mm long Fiat Bravo arm (with aerofoil).

Any miracle cures?

RainX IS the magic cure, I've been using it for years on all my cars and it's fabulous. :D

RainX is the answer. I put it on my car and was amazed at the difference.

In fact, Georgina then got me to put it on her road car.

ok ok I give in.
I bet you all have shares in this stuff. Consider the job done. Now if only it would rain so that i can find out if it works?

I made it rain with a watering can, so I could test the effect - it's amazing to watch.

A word of warning...if you've applied Rainex, it rains and you're whizzing down the road then you can become transfixed by the beads of rain rolling across your windscreen :p It's quite therapeutic, until you wander across the white line/bounce off the kerb/run a zebra crossing/red light  - you get my drift?

Maybe it isn't raining up there at the momentm, but perhaps you just need to wait for a 60mph gale to blow up, then pop outside with your watering can (or the Irish Shower)...
