Does anyone know anything about the warehouse full of Strati(?)
that the roof fell in on? I seem to remember reading about this in an old magazine, seems that Lancia hadn't sold them all and they were in storage somewhere in Italy and the roof fell in and wrote-off about a 100 of them. Is there any substance to this?
Is there any photographic evidence?
Please put me out of my misery and tell me it didn't happen.

Yeah - I remember reading about something like that somewhere but I can't remember any of the details. The problem with stuff like this is that the Stratos is so rare that even information from reputable sources often contains misinformation. I'll see what I can dig up - maybe someone else (probably Guy ;-) ) will remember more about it.

Yeah John, I read this in a magazine. Supercar Classics of Winter 1985, picture of 6 Strati on the front cover.

Quote " Basically, though, Lancia were stuck with a stockpile of largely unsaleable cars, several hundred of which were stored in an old warehouse in Turin. Sadly, the roof collapsed crushing not only the cars but a large inventory of spare parts which immediately put the works rally team into a tough position. The cars were winning rallies right, left and centre but were in danger of having to withdraw because there were no spares."

I for one would love to see photos of said collapsed warehouse, not for the morbidity of it all but it really would lay to rest rumours of less than the homologation numbers required being built.

There are tears in my eyes when I read this. Just think how many they could shift now(for a hugely inflated price)

Yeah, but, if there were another 200 or so cars around availability wouldn't be such an issue, prices would be lower and a few of us might not be running around in replicas............
