Just to make things more interesting this year I gather that Lionel is fully intending that the Napiersport "Evo" Group 5 style car will be at Abingdon next week and featuring in the Sprint.
I hear you all say " I do not see any entry in the list above!"
BUT!
There are entries from Dave Watson and Jerry Bailey and hopefully we will see both Jerry and Dave going "head to head" in the Evo driving seat during Saturdays sprint rather than in their own steeds which will be saving themselves for Sundays Rally Stages.
This Evo "double header" in the sprint should be a fascinating spectacle. Which one of our heroes will come out on top?
Currently in the workshop to have it's Tilton clutch fitted, the Evo will then be making a short trip down the road to Abingdon. All those extra horses which Chris Savage and the guys from Emerald found have put paid to single plate clutches being adequate in the Evo!
So are you guys up to it? Thats what we want to find out next saturday!
The gauntlet has been well and truly thrown down!
Can you tell I've had a shandy or two?
Time to go...

Gr.5 Evo in action on the sprint - with two different drivers?
That should be interesting. Still giving Jerry a chance to keep his crown too - or to lose it with a car that will no doubt behave quite differently to his own!

That'll be interesting then!
look forward to chasing it round! :D

PS. Another thought
JR mentioned to me the other week that this is also the British GP weekend. This means anyone thinking of using the the A43 between the M1 and M40 to get across towards oxford may need to look at alternative routes.
It will be used for Silverstone traffic only all weekend and there is no through road, so the road signs say.

Cheers
Rob

PPS
There are also a couple of others on the reserve list for the sprint too! :) Could this be the biggest ever sprint entry so far?

Geraint Davies
Chris Ellis

Hope you all get a run guys. Worth being there ready for the nod on the day.
Rob

As usual - many, many thanks to Dave for organising and promoting this event.

Was great fun in seriously hot weather.

Hope someone has piccies that show my car in action - it felt somewhat on the edge from the inside at times, be nice if it looked like it too. But then again, Rob scores on the entertainment factor for Saturday afternoon - I could see the smoke cloud as I approached the chicane two cars later!

Shame about the Evo on Sat. More of a shame for Jerry's car on the Sunday.
Seems that the outcome on the rally was much like last year - frustrating. Even more so as David was up to 11th place when his gear linkage failed :(

John, I think we dropped back from 11th on the second stage after getting baulked by a slower car. The gear-linkage problem actually started during stage 2, but, I thought it was just me not concentrating enough in the heat - until it went completely on stage 3, then it was game-over for the day.

Shame for Lionel that we couldn't get to run the Evo - he put a lot of effort into getting the car there for us, and I'd like to thank him for his efforts, and for offering Jerry and I the opportunity to drive it in the first place. It would have been a great spectacle if it had been in full health.

Many thanks to everyone who helped to make the whole event a success.

Bailley beaten in the sprint shock!

Was it the same man in the Gartrac Escort?

Chris,

Yes, Jerry was driving his Gartrac Escort, as well as trying a run in the Evo and also his Chequered Flag car.

I think Jerry would have done much better if he had concentrated on driving his Stratos, but he was just intent on enjoying himself.
