Any help, experience and advise would be appreciate on this subject. I've started to plan my brake system on my Hawk.
I've got the standard mounting set up and will be using twin Tilton master cylinders and balance bar. Since I haven't decided on brakes yet, the bore sizes are to be decided. I was thinking of 13/16 front and 3/4 inch rear with a servo option.
Is there sufficient room for integrated reservoirs or do they need to be remote?
I've chosen Kunifer copper/nik pipes in I'm assuming 3/16!! Is this a wise choice?
I've read some interesting notes on flexi hoses and connections. It seems braided stainless with silicon inners are the way to go. Is this ok and what about connectors?
Any advise on routing and securing would also be appreciated including pics.

you need to decide on calipers first, before you can work out the M/C sizes

Take the rear pipes through the front bulkhead, inside the car down the central spine to a T at the rear bulkhead, across behind the rear cross member, flexis from under tank mounting area. Fronts can go where you fancy. Mine did go through the curved ally panels, then down to the bracket, but they now come through under tha angled member below the inner wing.
FWIW, my system is twin 0.625 M/Cs with Alfa calipers and a remote servo on the front circuit. Gerry's suggestion, seems to work fine - can lock front or rear depending on balance bar position and pedal feel is good.

Wherever you decide on the reservoirs make sure there is sufficient clearance for the float/test mechanism required by SVA and make sure that the pipes are secured every ??cm in accordance with SVA. Obviously nothing near them to cause chafing either! Gear linkages etc!

Integral cylinders (short ones) should be ok.
Standard plastic reservoirs of full height will not fit unless you machine down the adapter at their base...

Maybe not totally authentic for the Stratos but remote reservoirs have certain advantages for SVA. Looks like Pim is using remotes for his Tilton setup.
I think it is the FIAT Punto that has a reservoir with three outlets (thats 2 for the brake masters and 1 for the clutch) which looks like it will fit somewhere suitable for the Corse at least. This reservoir also has a built in fluid level warning light which is SVA compliant.
This will allow the master cylinders to be mounted a little higher. John is right. If you put the Tilton reservoir on the master cylinders without cutting a little off the base of the plastic first, then it will be very close to the underside of the front section when it is fastened down in place.

Maybe not totally authentic for the Stratos but remote reservoirs have certain advantages for SVA.

I saw Tryphons brake system a few threads ago, and he also seems to use remote reservoirs, maybe Group 4 cars used remote reservoirs :confused:
I have a picture of the two reservoirs somewere and will try to post it, they look like Alfa Romeo Duetto reservoirs i think.

Here the picture of dual reservoirs, from a German magazine, had to adhance it because the original is small.

I think this thread has been discussed before but I am thinking of possibly mounting a pedal box inside the car , preferably hanging rather than floor mounted,as per the original Stratos{never actually seen the original set up}similar to the x-19, but then again I dont really want to cut & chop & weld the chassis too much, anybody got any ideas or pics please...

I myself bought a second hand remote Tilton set up which is to be mounted on the chassis ( I also don't want to weld and cut to much at the chassis ). I am mounting it higher so a longer pedal is possible ( for a better pedal-ratio without servo ) So i wont be using the Hawk pedal, but an home made pedal instead. Only problem is the front chassis member under the dash, which blocks the pedal travel, see pic. In the pic. u see the Alfa cluch pedal as a try out, this is slightly off-set so my right foot wont hit the brake pedal while accelerating. Still in a prototype set up though, i can still use the Hawk set up if it doen not work out :p ;)

Guys, the originals are using the pedalbox I posted in the thread mentioned above with 2 remote reservoirs (Alfa Duetto 1st series) as shown in the picture posted by Pim.
