All,

Have been reading the threads relating to brakes, but am more confused and concerned now than when I started.

If I go for an after-market set am I always going to need mounting brackets/adaptors or do some fit perfectly without any additional bits?
If so what are best options?

I am looking to fit Gerry's Coffin Spokes when I get to the conclusion of the build. Should I stick with Alfa discs and calipers. Can't see myself using the vehicle for track, so bog standard easy-to-fit would be the preferable option. The threads suggest Brakes from a 146 and 166 might be just what I am looking for.

Thanks in advance

Iain

I think Gerry supplies mounting brackets for the 164 calipers. Take a look in pimms gallery, i think there were some pics there.

Bernard runs 164 brakes on his car and he doesn't hang around!!

You'll need some form of mounting bracket for any caliper. The Hawk 164 mounting brackets are available off the shelf, (and the Hawk can use Beta calpiers and mountings) for any other caliper you will need to fabricate your own mounts.
For some reason my Alfa rear calipers didn't need the dogbone spacer that Gerry supplied. mountings picture (http://www.stratossupersite.com/photos/showphoto.php?photo=309&sort=1&cat=500&page=4)

Hi Iain,
Pictures of Hawk brackets, Alfa 164 callipers and discs can be found on my website, not in the gallery. Hope they can help!

Best regards,
