A further question regarding the Motronic system fitted to the 24v Alfa engine:
Does this system incorporate a form of 'learning' process so that it configures its operating parameters based on feedback from the engine (i.e. lambda sensors, knock sensors) to use a modified map after some time?
What I really want to know is, does the setting change over time and revert to a default or standard map once power to the ecu has been disconnected and reconnected?
My main concern is that if it does this, the engine will not operate at its best settings every time the power has been disconnected using the battery cut-off switch...
Any thoughts on this?

I had similar doubts at first but now almost always use the master switch and have never noticed any changes. The 'learnt' parameters are really only needed when there is insufficient real-time sensor information (cold-start, idling) and I doubt if they would have any effect at full-power.
