not dead sure but a lot of parts on the car where fiat 124 coupe might be worth a try.

Good Luck Simon :)

Stephen, Why not give Norman a ring, in St. Helens who built the car originally, I'm sure he will know what is was from. Send me a pm if you don't have his number.

looks like a front wishbone from a Fiat 124 although it could also be 131 or 132. Can't tell you if it's an upper or lower one. If you get desperate you could post ti to me and I'll compare it to the Spider one if that;s any help?

Part number on it?

I think 131s have struts, so that would narrow it down to 124 or 132?

Also looks remarkably Vauxhall Chevette like.

I thought that there was some mention of Vauxhall Shove-it suspension parts used on Dave Watson's old car - but I may well be mistaken about that.

Vauxhall Chevette/Opel Kadet 'C' have only two bolts fixing the top ball joint. You can turn them 180 degrees to give two camber settings.

Ex GM Opel owner useless information fact No. 345 B.

I think it's a Fiat wishbone. I might be wrong?

:D :D :D

Another Allora owner who is not a forum member contacted me by phone the other night, he is fairly sure its a Lada top wishbone. He did the right thing and junked the front suspension on his and made his own :)
That can be next years project

Must confess, I saw the pic and thought "time for some CDS tube and the TIG"...but if you can get them easily & cheaply, then why bother with all the effort & expense.

BTW, I've put those 124 uprights in the boot, so don't forget to bother me for them Saturday :)

That wouldn't be a red one with 14" Revolution wheels by any chance?

Pretty much. It's tricky to distinguish between the 124 & 132 type from that angle - the 124 type have a shorter distance from the stub axle to the bottom balljoint. The ones I have are definately the shorter ones, and as such are no use to me for the Corse.

Mystery of the top wishbone solved, spoke to the cars builder last night ( thanks again Dave Ak ) and he remembers getting it from a Lada. Chris he thinks the upright is Fiat132 but was not 100% sure. I'll have a look at them at Oulton.
Thanks to all :)

Ps. Chris J : I think you would be correct, he contacted me out of the blue having been looking at the forum, managed to find a post with my phone number. Do you know the car?

Know it?...I've sat in it!
I'm guessing it's David Jowsey. His Allora must be one of the oldest one owner cars. David is on the newsletter photo of us all stood behind Mick's car in Mick's garage during its build up last year. I've lost his phone number actually. I wondered if he needed that Corse windscreen that Yukspeed had for sale a while ago?

John is right. The Allora used Vauxhall Chevette top wishbones - at least that was what was on my car until I replaced them with custom units.

Plus I also have some early original documentation stating this fact from the original Allora manufacturer.

Thats strange Dave, I met Norman at Oulton park yesterday and he remembers getting them off a Lada quite clearly.
Will phone my mate who rallies Chevettes and get him to email pic of
a Chevette one.

I have to say I'm somewhat confused now. I would have sworn that from the "top" view they were Chevette, but the side profile in Steves photo does not look right. Too tapered towards the ball joint.
I should remember what Chevette wishbones look like. I used to have to change so many bent ones....
