I f any one can get to Barton Stacey near Andover this Sunday I am doing a test day and can take passengers! on a proper special stage, you do not need overalls or a licence.
This is a proper special stage tarmac event organised by the CSMA , call me on 01460 61916 during Staurday

Yes the car is a Stratos replica!
Youre welcome, I expect to be doing around 10 stages during the day, 4 will be with my proper co pilot
Cheers Gary :)

I went along yesterday, as did Tim and Keith, and went out as a passenger in the morning, then marshalled in the afternoon.

When checked-out by Google (usually a couple of days time), a short clip of Gary's car will be available at http://video.google.com (a search for Stratos, or CSMA, should find it).

Cheers,
John

Hooo, what a ride!

Thanks Gary for an exhilerating experience, and to Carol for letting me borrow her seat in the car. That was definitely the fastest I've ever been in a Strat on loose surfaces under race/rally conditions, and it was great to feel the car moving around and powering out of the corners. (I think Tim may have reached higher speeds on the smoother parts of the Spa special stages, but understandably he wasn't taking too many chances.)

Well done also for the emergency repair which kept things going. For those who weren't there, the front left suspension tie-rod popped out only 50 yards after the start of my first ride, and Gary had to abort and limp back to the "paddock". However, after about 15 minutes of jiggery-pokery with some spanners and a "bloooody great 'ammer" the car was fixed and things got back up to full speed.

I've loaded my pics and videos onto my PC this morning, and I'm going though editing and enhancing them now. I'll post the stills in the gallery section ASAP, and I'll check out the Google site for posting the vids. I'll post another message when I've done everything to let people know how to find stuff.

Unfortunately, my second PC with the CD burner in it seems to have died, :( and I need to switch the burner into my main PC before I can make CDs. This may take a few days, but I will get it done because I know a lot of people find it hard or impossible to access the web and download stuff.

Thanks also to Tim for the lift to Barton Stacey and back again.

Ok, I've submitted a video to Google, and it should be appearing in the next couple of days. I can't give a direct link to it, but if you go to video.google.com and search for "stratos", then look for the title "Roar of the Stratos", you should be able to find it.

I've also posted some pics in the gallery section of this site. Just do a picture search using the keyword "barton" and you'll get the lot. If you want to limit the search to only Stratos pics, use the keywords "barton" and "stratos".
