Brent, are you shortening a standard Beta one to fit the Hawk?

If that's the case, you need to shorten the inner AND outer parts by three and a half inches at both sides. The link rod and threaded sleeve adjuster need shortening too.

Thanks for the info Chris.

I had to order one from Betacars, as my local factors no longer list a cable for the Beta.

Did you modify the cable yourself or send it to someone like speedy cables, as I was wondering how you reattached the end?

Cheers Brent.

No, I have'nt actually done the job yet. I'm just reading from the build manual. I too am wondering how you make a stop for the end of the cable? The inner only needs shortening twice the amount at ONE end, obviously. It just needs a 'blob' on the end? I've done this to a clutch cable before, but I can't remember how I did it?

Hi Brent
Try speaking to Venhill Cables (http://www.venhill.co.uk/) 01306 885111 They are a helpful bunch and do allsorts of cables. They may be to solder or crimp a nipple on the end for you  They are in your neck of the woods somewhere. I used a Commercial Hydraulic/cable specialist up near me to get mine shortened. (I think it was an X1/9 one I found and had to have new ends.

Bernard and I have used Venhill for their lined throttle cables made to length/spec with adjusters etc. for about £35 all in.

That's it!! "Crimp a nipple"

I KNEW there was a technical term for it?

I'd like to finish this with an oooh Matron...

I need a little advise on handbrake cables.. I'm using Sierra Cosworth rear calipers as a handbrake solution only for SVA. Am I correct in that I should use a matching Cosworth cable and have it mod'd if required by Venhill or Speedy Cables?

Allen,
if you are using Scorpio/Cosworth calipers then the Corse item may well fit straight off.
Ask Lionel if he has any in stock.
