Google Video

As I have some limited video footage of the Stratos in action, I thought I'd upload these to the Google Video site, along with other non-Stratos clips that I have.

I was quite surprised to find that there wasn't any Lancia Stratos content there before I added the Boucles promo video clip though!

Fair number of Lancia clips - Integrale's doing donuts, that sort of thing.

Anyway, I would like to ask if any of you would (i) care to view the video(s) in Google (get the popularity rank up, if possible) and (ii) use Google Video to host your own Stratos footage.

Sounds like a good idea John. Whats involved in uploading clips to the site? I'm no techno junkie. :rolleyes:

You need to register for an account - doesn't need a google mail address either (in fact they have a problem right now if linked to someone at googlemail.com, ok with gmail.com and other addresses).

The site will accept video in many formats, wmv, mov, etc.

You need to download some software to do the uploads; use that to copy video files to their server, then use the web interface to add descriptive text. Google then review the video before making it available live on the site (that may take 12-48 hours).

Another feature, which should really be used on a stratclub site update, is the ability to embed Google Video into your own web pages.

They also provide a facility to charge for views/downloads of your video. Don't know if that is working yet, but it certainly won't apply to anything I may load up there!

I would also have thought this would be a great location to put up video from the Monte Trip?

I gather there are issues/questions with the use of music in the video, but why not go for a silent version in the mean time?

Or at least put some clips onto the site, if not the full produced video?

PS - Google do request that all videos are at least 10 seconds in length, which is pretty short in any instance. Their site will generate previews too.

I have a copy of these so I can put of if Ian K. doesn't.

The best bits were on tape though, Ian Hassle has converted them but they are stuck in his PC along with a million Photos......Any movement towards the DVD Ian????

That's good, getting a bit more content up there now.

It doesn't appear to need stating, since you've all managed so far, but I would recommend that the title and/or description include the words 'Lancia' and 'Stratos' to improve the chances of finding it searches.

Other keywords as you wish (i.e. replica, kit, CAE, Hawk, Sprint, etc).

You also get the option to add a web site link, so it would be good to use this - whether this goes to your own site, the kit manufacturer, stratclub.com or to the stratossupersite.com

I've taken the liberty of uploading some of Ian K's /Phil's in car (and sometimes out of the window!) camera footage.
Hope you don't mind Ian :) I just had chance to do it today.
Should be available sometime tomorrow (Monday) after it gets approved :)

Hi guys, Just added 2 more video clips this evening.

First is from AutoItalia 2000, and shows several cars we know :-), including a short piece of JR's Hawk on the track.

Second is of my Stratos V Hunter run at Bruntingthorpe in September 2005.
