Has anybody used an alternative steering rack on a Hawk other than the Triumph Herald one & was there a particular reason for using the Herald unit.

Herald rack probably suited the suspension geometry/pick up points. Allan Staniforth's book 'competition car suspension' explains with drawings the relation of the steering rack to the inboard pick up points plus bump steer. Any other rack would need the arm pivots about the same as the herald.

I think there is a quicker version fitted to another triumph, gt6 or something?
