Has anyone noticed that on left hand drive Hawks the space between the brake pedal and the front tunnel cover does not leave enough room for your foot to reach the accelerator pedal?

I also noticed that the strengthening web on the brake pedal is very close to the steering column universal joint. This would not be the case if the pedals were on the right hand side as the shaft would pass on the other side. So perhaps Hawk use the same pedal set up for both LHD and RHD cars.

I have now solved this problem by cutting off the brake lever/peddal and the web and moving the lever to the left and rewelding the web on the right.
this not only gives more than enough clearance for the steering shaft universal joint but also moves the brake pedal closer to the clutch pedal and gives enough room for your foot to fit between the brake pedal and the tunnel cover to reach the accelerator.

I'm going to have to get a pair of racing boots to get my feet onto one pedal at a time - trainers are just too wide. One drawback I've noticed of the base mounted throttle pedal setup on right hand drive cars is that the lever that the cable attaches to is easily caught with the clutch foot, and fitting a shield between the two takes up even more space.

I thought that the floor mounted lever used a tube that passed through the centre tunnel and a lever in the passenger side footwell?
My car uses a Fiat 126 floor mounted pedal with the lever in the drivers footwell. The centre tunnel bends around this and has a slope towards the centre of the car. The lever is bent over the centre spine and the tunnel wall stops my clutch foot operating the accelerator at the same time. Having said that, my size 9 1/2 feet only just fit down there wearing narrow shoes! It would be nice to have a clutch foot rest for long journeys but there just isn't space on a RHD chassis. Those of you with the foresight to order LHD don't forget this little aid to driving comfort!

Not the Graham Bates version anyway. It would be better if it did, as long as you could still get the pipes through the middle.

This is the same as mine. You need little Italian feet! :(
