Overcentre catches

The spring on one of mine has broken and it's all gone limp. Is the spring action integral to the security of the catch, or is the overcentre action enough?
If not, anybody got a single one going spare?

Chris I had a similar problem with mine and on sprints i had to use tank tape to keep it closed.
I have 2 spare pairs that i want to try and hang on too ( for my second Strat) but if you get desperate drop me a pm and we can come to some arrangement.
