Help please I'm trying to wire the Bosch electronic ignition module on my Beta installation, but I have two wires I cant match up. Haynes Beta manuals and Hawk instructions dont cover the module and I didnt take a note of the wires when I stripped the donor. I have 6 wires coming out of the module
1.Black to earth on mounting: OK Obvious
2/3 Green and brown to distributor : OK on multiconnector
4 Dark green : to negative on coil think its ok
5 Red with black diagonal stripes ?
6 Green with black diagonal stripes ?
The only spare wire I have on the Hawk engine loom is a green wire which I believe is an ignition switched feed but it doesnt say to what.
Coil is wired per Hawk instructions White supply to positive White/black rev counter to negative
Can anyone with this installation help please?

This might help:

If not I'll have to go out into the cold garage and lift the bonnet.

I thought that was intended for an electronic choke device of some sort?

Shaun ,I cant access the wiring diagrams on the Lancisti formum until registered so Im waiting, hope I can then find out to save you a trip out in the cold . The electronic device for the carb was there between the coil and module but is redundant as the donor came modified with twin dellorto carbs.DavidM

Hi
According to the beta coupe owners manual I have the wiring you suggested check out correctly, including the dark green wire (assuming you do not have it mixed up with the lighter green one you mention)
The unknown wires appear to be:
green/black: impulses to the rev counter.
red/black: can't tell for sure (yet) but the only thing you have not covered is the live feed to the ignition module - this makes sense as there is another wire connected to it (on a three way connector that the beta uses here) and that supplies optional items (like air con) not remotely connected to the ign.
My diagram also shows a ballast resistor in series with the coil live feed.
PM me your e-mail and I'll send a scan of the (very large) diagram. You'll need broadband.

For some reason I thought we were talking fuel injection but if you are on carbs its a bit easier. The std beta had a fuel solenoid on the carb but I'll have to ckeck on the 6 wires, from memory there were a lot less! It's only -7C now so warming up a bit.

Peter, thanks for the offer but I dont have broadband, which is also a problem Shaun with the Lancisti download as the wiring diagrams are huge. Perhaps it will warm up in the South of France so you could have a look on your car thanks DavidM

1.Black to earth on mounting: OK Obvious
2/3 Green and brown to distributor : OK on multiconnector
4 Dark green : to negative on coil
5 Red with black diagonal stripes +ve feed to ign module, combined with red to +ve feed to coil.
6 Green with black diagonal stripes , rev counter.
As for the hawk loom, haven't a clue but there might be something in the build manual.
I did take a photo of a single ign loom but this two looms and one module photo shows the colours better if a little confusing, hope it helps.
