shift lever/gear

Hi all,
Ayone know how to adapt the beta gear lever to the Hawk link rod. The link rod curves upward so i think i have to weld the square block ( thats originaly at the bottom of the Beta gear lever ) some 62mm obove the centre of the levers spherical joint :o
Can i get rid of the spring and move the spherical joint upward as shown in the third pic :o

Hi Pimms,

What i did was assemble the gear lever as in your third pic, measure the shaft so there was enough length to get a nut and washer on the bottom side then cut the end off. following that my mate popped the shaft in a lathe and skimmed it down then cut a thread on it so the nut would then go on.

Pop that assembly into the chassis, level the linkage across then mark where the block needs to go. Not sure if the block needed drilling larger for the lever shaft. do a dry assembly then tack in place with a welder so you know it will all line up, take it out, weld it, paint it maybe then reassemble.
