As discussed in this recent thread,
http://www.stratossupersite.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2351
there is some interest in a group or consortium purchase of the Kaaz Limited Slip Differential to fit the Alfa 164 transmission.

Product description here:
http://www.kaazuk.com/products.php

The suppliers have been contacted and would provide a discount for bulk purchases. The actual price would depend on how many items are purchased, expected to be as follows:

1 to 3: £834.10
4 to 7: £787.10
8+: £751.85

These prices include UK delivery and VAT.

Ay consortium purchase would require payment up front to an agreed timescale, through a trusted individual handling the transaction. This process has been used successfully before to purchase new alloy wheels for the Stratos. If there is enough interest, a similar process could be used to buy these LSD units.

Please use this poll to indicate if you would be interested in purchasing a limited slip diff in this manner (presumably for payment in January, with - unfortunately, a five week delay in supply of the diffs).

Do also note that there are other limited slip diff products that can be used in the Alfa transaxle for the Stratos replicas.

Of these, 'Gripper' diffs have been used successully, and are a known item, in the replicas. Quaife ATB diff units also have a good reputation, but needed a minimum order of 10 units. This means that club members have not had experience of this unit in the kits. I'm sure all three work just fine.

The poll allows you to indicate if you would want one of these other diff types, on the assumption that prices would be roughly similar.

Replying to this poll does not commit you (or a consortium) to any purchase. It is just to gather information as to demand for LSD units right now...

Additional information (as posted in related thread):

Thanks for getting in touch.

The LSD unit for the Alfa 3 litre 164 is DBA2510 and is 1.5 way. The lead time on these units is 5 weeks, so apologies for that.

This Kaaz LSD has 12 large plates inside and is a very strong unit. They come by default with full lock, although if you would prefer less lock, we can adjust the units for you.

Please note, the LSD comes with 2 litres of Kaaz LSD oil, so you will need to purchase more oil. We supply both Kaaz LSD oil and Miller Oils LSD oil.

Voted I don't want one  But it's not that I already have one, just other priorities and plain can't afford it at the mo :(

Hope all goes well

Same with me Bobster. all my funds are for the new engine and ECU.
John, Can we have an option of "Yes, we really want one, but can't afford one just now"

I'm sur quite a few of us will fall into that category.

Cheers

Tim

Probably should have added that as an option. Don't think I can edit the poll now but the sentiment is likely to be a common one.

Won't know for a couple of weeks whether I can vote in or out myself!

But the poll will still show the potential (or lack of) for putting together a consortium purchase early in the new year (or maybe later).

Hi guys
Let me add my two' penneth worth.
I don`t know how `tight` these lsd`s are but my unit (from Mike Buckler) is pretty tight with quite aggressive ramp angles. It is great for competition use but I certainly wouldn`t want to use it for regular use on the road. Anybody who has heard my car "chunking" as I try to turn a corner at slow speed must wonder what is going on (and yes it is set up correctly ).
Don`t be tempted to buy one of these just for the street cred of having one, they are not for an everyday road car.

p.s. I`m not trying to stop you all beating me at Abingdon next year.
