View Full Version : Group 4 front Indicator query

Just trying to locate a suitable alternative Group 4 front Indicator to fit onto my Corse. I've recently decided that I dont like the Stradale front indicator/sidelight units with a Grp4 rear end look and want to change it's face.
I am aware that the originals and the Alfa Guilia types are rare and expensive if you can find some. They would also be wasted on my car!
Therefore, I am not after an exact match, but something that fits and looks OK.
Possible candidates are either Series 3 Landrover or a Mini unit. Both are available, cheap and are the right kind of shape. They are also available with amber or clear lenses. Just not sure about the size and profile, although I am not too concerned about the profile.
So, the info I am after really is to find out is the following:
Overall diameter of the lens.
Overall diameter of the complete unit.
What profile is the light.
Is the bezel black?
Was the lens clear or amber? The photos, i've seen look clear.
A closeup photo would be very handy, if anyone could help.
Many thanks

Is this the type of thing you're looking for? If so I can let you have all the sizes, supplier details etc.

I have just found these on ebay that claim to be from a Giulia Sprint 101-Series, with the later style front grille. They are carello.
Are they right or even a close match?

Tim - close match but no bananas! The correct items are Alfa 101 Guilia Spider. Last car that had them fitted was the Innocenti Mini, classic mini shape but the rings were generally stainless steel and not chromed.
The link below is for one of the correct style lamps I've just bought for my spares box. Not for sale! and shows the chrome nicely. The lense should be clear and not orange as this is but the price was right on this one!

The Lucas style Mini one shown earlier is the best alternative. Size is almost identical and it takes a close look to tell it's not the right one plus it's cheap and available in a clear lense. It's what I was going to use until I found the correct one!

Many thanks Guy. I thought you would know the correct details.
BTW Just seen a pair of Carello Megalux chrome rings on ebay. Here is the link in case you still need some.

Thanks Tim, unfortunately it's just the lenses/reflectors I need! I've watched 3 pairs come out of the woodwork in the last month and all have gone for €250 plus which is too much for me when I don't need the bodies! I'lll keep looking! A Lense number would help I suppose but until then I'll keep bidding on spurious items an keep hoping to hit the mother lode one day!

Good morning Tim. Info on the indicators as promised.
They were bought from DSN Classics in Norfolk. Their online shop is at
www.dsnclassics.co.uk
They do two types, one with plastic lenses and one with glass lenses priced at £6.95 and £15.00 respectively.
I opted for the plastic ones and with VAT and carraige, I spent £18. Next day delivery too.
Sizes are, amber lens 53mm diameter, chrome bezel 66mm diameter and the base diameter 72mm. The amber lens is 33mm high from the bezel.
I also have mine mounted on a turned black nylon spacer 50mm high to comply with SVA regulations.
Hope this is helpful. :)

Thanks Mick. Just ordered a pair and a clear conversion kit.
Just got to work out how to get working sidelights now :o
I feel a new thread coming on to discuss the issue.
