Currently fitting an Alfa 2.5 V6 & need to sort the engine management unit out.
Do not want to fit the key code ECU etc, so is the only way a reprogrammed chip from Squadra tuning in the netherlands.
Has anybody come up with any alternative working ideas to bypass the Pin 6 serial connection.
Any help much appreciated.

Some guys on the 155 forum have used these people to get round this problem.. http://www.the-ecu-doctor.co.uk/
No personal experience of them.
Others have gone the Squadra route as you mention.
....but why don't you want to use the keycode system (assuming you have it all)? Pretty effective immobiliser and it's only 2 extra small items IIRC.
Is this a 155 motor or a later one BTW?? Just curious as I have a 155 V6 myself.
Cheers

Phil Jordan fitted the 2.5litre V6 from a 155 into his kit some years back.
I know he had grief with the immobiliser, but don't know what he did to solve it.
If you can get his contact details (old club newsletters, or ask Tim to pass on message perhaps) then he might be able to provide some comment.

I didn't think that replacing the one chip with a Squadra one affected the immobiliser function. But I often don't know what I'm talking about!

I think there is someone in the netherlands doing somle kind of immo bypass. It was talked about on the gtvv6.com forum. He will need your chassis number and possibly someother details. The question, from memory, involved a car, divorce and keys down the drain!

Thanks for the response chaps..........
The 2.5 V6 is from a 166.........I do not have the key code ECU & associated parts required.
Have spoken to Stephan at www.squadra-tuning.com (NL) who has forwarded me an e-mail address for more info.
Have also spoken to www.the-ecu-doctor.co.uk who is not sure, but would have a look FOC.
I will report back any findings........in the meantime, if any more info comes to light, please let me know.

Ah, now I understand why you don't want to get involved with the key-code stuff. It would no doubt cost more than a new aftermarket ECU to reinstate the system buying the bits from Alfa.
Keep us posted as I suspect more and more of the later engines are going to start finding their way into cars.

Looking on various forums, the parts required vary from £800 to £1800 (Alfa) to re-instate a full key code system....
Now that is a rip off...it is not even that reliable...allegedly.
