http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=9158 this looks very interesting - looks like an easy way to clean up old rusty parts.

Don't use stainless steel electrodes or caustic soda though!!

Fascinating reading!
So, who is going to be the first to try this and post before and after results?

hubs, stub axles, wishbones, leading links.....
I remeber spending hours with a drill and a wire brush working on such bits prior to paint.... Must be some new builders out there willing to give it a go?

I'm afraid I can't post pictures because my camera just packed up.
I found the rustiest thing I could, which was a scaffolders wrench that was lying around. A nail, some wire and a battery charger. Followed the instructions and rigged it all up in a washing up bowl. It works! :) The solution goes a horrible black, with brown scum on top (Many negative house points - suggest not using washing up bowl :o ). Interestingly, the outside of the socket came rust free, but the inside didn't, in spite of being fully imersed, hence the need for clever ideas like suspending the electrode inside hollow items. Quick and simple to set up, and does what the website claims - nice idea! ;)

OK, camera not dead, just resting! :)

This is the "after" photo. It only got a couple of hours, and if I was serious, it would get another immersion, and a nail dangled inside to get the interior clean.

Want me to fine grain sand blast it for ya....lol.

I am gonna try the electric method very soon. Then I don't have to make everything grey with the sand blaster..
