...I'll be removing the TC soon. Standard S1 Monte Carlo engine (apart from in-head thermostat mod and Beta water rails) on single 34DATR2/200 carb, standard 2l Beta gearbox. Will include everything except water hoses, alternator and A/C compressor. Engine had new main/big end shells, new oil pump, rings, water pump about 2500 miles ago (when I built it). Also got a pair of re-profiled cams to suit a Monte motor to go with it but have no idea what spec. If required, also have an early Litton exhaust system to go with it - 4-2-1 mild steel manifold (nice long primaries) and stainless silencer (if you can dignify it with that title now all the wadding has gone!).
Offers??
If no interest here, next stop is Chad @ the Monte Hospital.

So the swop commences. Can we have some pics?. Most upgrade pics have been of hawk chassis so far, it would be nice to see a corse.

I could use a fresh engine for my Scorpion, but I suspect the shipping costs to the USA might be prohibitive...

Hi Scot, why don't you put it in 'hand luggage' like those wheels? ;)
Cheers

Well there is a container on it's way over with a 164 engine in it amongst other things that Fran has bought. PM him and see if and when it's going and how much space could be perhaps?

No problem. I'm still at the final stages of stripping the V6 at the moment, but as soon as the block is cleaned up I'll probably move onto removing the TC. First stage of that job is to cut out the top rear crossmember and make it a bolt-in. After that it's fabricate the engine mounts and move the diagonals. I figure it'll be easier to work with an empty V6 block than a complete engine.......I'll probably strip my 'spare' gearbox and do the same with that as they are a heavy old lump.
Once I get to any interesting points, I'll take pictures and measurements for those who might follow later. Probably not too many of those to be honest as most Corse' seem to have either been built with a V6 or already converted.
I'm going round and round trying to decide which bits of the engine to replace at the moment. I'f I'm not careful I'll talk myself into spending a fortune again. Bores are good with only very slight wear at the very top. No ridge, just a small band (maybe 5mm) where the hone marks have started to wear away. Pistons look fantastic, rings feel good and springy still, ring lands perfect. Crank perfect, all shells look perfect. I started thinking I'd replace rings and give it a quick hone (£130), then I thought pistons, rings & liners (£400), then I thought just glaze-bust the darn thing and use what's already there. I'm not likely to be doing 100000 miles in it......but I think I've come back to a set of rings & a hone....probably :) Bearings I'll plastigauge before I make up my mind but will almost certainly just replace the lot. Oil pump is good and that pretty much covers the bottom end. I've not touched the heads yet but did spot one exhaust cam lobe showing signs of distress so fully expect to find a set of worn cams and followers. I will most definately be changing all 6 exhaust cam followers though! Thankfully, I have a good spare pair of cams plus a pair of complete spare heads that just might have fancy cams in them. They came with the car when I got it but I've never yet got around to stripping them, so now is the time. I can then pick & choose between the two sets to make up the best pair possible. Might even try a bit of DIY porting.
...and of course...what colour to paint the block??? Probably black. I think it looks nice set off by alloy heads and black-crackle cam covers. Seem to be doing all my engines like that these days.

Right, I've finished pimping the V6 I'll be using for this conversion so the TC comes out next weekend.
Any takers??? Cheap!!! Chad wasn't interested and suggested e-bay...but I'm not sure I can be bothered with the potential grief of it all.
To recap - complete engine & box, running, ready to drop in if anyone needs a spare.
