Great, now I've got things to do that don't involve plaster, wood, cement and wiring. Well, maybe still wiring.... :) :) :)

Excellent!!

Keep at it. It looks like your mechanicals are all fitted, mine is going as a bare chassis and tub so the race is half won for you already. :)

2000 used ones. Not bad at all I reckon.
Very good masking lines, just a bit of blow through on the rubbery stuff in the wheel arches to sort. I'll add the black/orange/yellow myself. Thinking about vinyl rather than paint for the wheel arches, but the 3D might be a bit awkward. Handbag Control aghast at the idea of yellow on a car.
The engine bay and interior is covered in really fine dust from all the sanding, which won't hoover off - it looks like it needs damp dusteed, but how do you damp dust an engine? Any suggestions of how to deal with it? The stink of it burning off the exhaust is awful, and pretty unhealthy too I imagine. :(

Quick squirt with a steam cleaner?

What have you used on the underside of the panels? I want to coat mine in some sort of black rubbery paint that isn't sticky. Any advice?

Nice one Chris. The end is in sight eh! Keep going now you have that extra incentive. :) By the way, there's nothing wrong with yellow on a car, especially a Stratos :D

Sorry Rob, I don't need to SVA as it's already registered and legal.
One of the bonuses of finishing a car someone else has given up on.

Nice one! That'll save a lot of time messing about then. :)
I'd forgot it had already been registered.

I used Innoflex sealer innotec (http://www.innotecworld.com/shopped_view_product.php?prod_id=16) which I got at the Harrogate show. I bought two 500ml tins and used about 1.5 - some left for some other bits after doing the 4 wheel wells. Very easy to work with, but I can't compare with other stuff, coz I ain't used them!

What about stone chip primer or body schutz, available from most paint suppliers and applied with a cheap spray applicator powered by your compressor. Can be overpainted in body colour or left black or grey as it comes out of the can.

My compressor? where's that then? :D

Does the Schutz stuff stay tacky?

It sets hard, John. You can paint over it. When it comes out of the gun it leaves a textured finish. I guess it is "softer" than paint finish, but thats because of it's thickness more than anything else.

Looking good Chris. A tad cheaper than my paintjob as well.......(assume tad=a huge amount of money). Let me know how that tacho works when you get to it.

I got some underbody stuff from CBS. Brushes on OK (very thick) dries quickly and can be overpainted afterward. Stays rubbery.

A quick note about Shutz or underseal guns. They can spray the stuff for miles! :D Any overspray doesn't just appear next to the panel you are covering, it can fly across workshops / Garages and get everywhere! especially onto other nicely painted panels which seem to have a magnetic effect on the Shutz ;) (got a rollocking when I was a yuuf)

File in one hand, mouse in the other!!

Just reminded me of an old gag.

A chap is walking through the village, on his way back from the bakers. In one hand he has a loaf of bread, his other hand in his pocket. As he passes the church, the reverend shouts out 'ah brother, i see you carry the staff of life in your hand, pray tell what do you have in the other? The chap replies 'a loaf of bread'... :D
