Hadn't seen a Red Chardonnet car before - model for sale here shows that scheme though:

Well, spending a bit more time browsing for Stratos items on eBay, just came up with a model in red, with Chardonnet stickers too!

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/POLISTIL-1-25-LANCIA-STRATOS-RED-RALLY-CAR-VGC_W0QQitemZ6988292267QQcategoryZ90920QQrdZ1QQcmd ZViewItem

BTW, I'm not going to bid on either of these.

Nor on the Bertone prototype model that I spotted - although not seen one of those before...

That was Chardonnet's 1st attempt with the car bought from the Aseptogyl team. Darniche won his 1st Stratos victory (Corsica 1975) in that car.

This web site refers to a black liveried car, as well as the more well-known versions:

I was going to do the Cambiagi black and gold livery car until I painted a model of it -it just didn't have a WOW impact.

More photos of the Poland 'Electrolux' car on Napiersport's superstratos website and lots of interesting Fiat competition cars on here:

http://www.abarth-gmr.be/new/

Have a look at the Abarth X1/9 on there. Anyone could build an X1/9 Abarth replica for a fraction of the cost of building a Stratos rep. 'Not as good looking, I know, but it would make a really quick enthusiast's car. 'Bit of a change from the usual 'hair-dresser' image?

Always fancied one of the X19/dallara replica jobs. Plenty cheap x19's about.

The popularity of the late Alitalia colour scheme with regard to replicas is born out by the amount of cars painted that way to date. I can think of (believe it or not) eleven so far.

I think the only reason that other colour schemes are very slowly catching up is because the late Alitalia scheme is nothing new by now?

Also, the interweb has made it so much easier to find all the dozens of other original paint schemes.

That a good point Chris. I know that's how you arrived at yours, but I can't think that anyone else has actually gone for one of these lesser known colour schemes? I have'nt seen any?

As I understand it, Ken T. did all his Rothmans research from old (non net) photos. The Olio Fiat one is featured in old books, but I'm sure photos on the net helped with Mick's and Geraint's versions? The Olio one isn't what I'd call lesser known though.

I suppose the ones that stick in people's memories in this country are the ones seen in the UK at the time. So it's Marlboro, both Alitalias, Pirelli and Chequered Flag variants. I should think even the Alen Lancia England and Chardonnet have been forgotten by most people by now? I remember seeing them on TV at the time, but not 'live'.

Other than Jerry B's, are there any CF liveried replicas? It's one of the best known in the UK you'd think.

If you get a copy of the DVD I've just started a new thread for you'll see loads and loads and loads of different liveries.

Think I may have to change a few minor details on mine later this year. Bugger.

Chris
You'd think there'd be more, but I only think of two 'Stratos 2' types and one 'Stratos 3' (Jerry's). Stratos 3 ran as right hand drive for a while, so Jerry's steering wheel side is authentic!

The two 'Stratos 2' ones are John Duffin's very early subframe Transformer (see pic.) and the ex Steve Greenwood Corse (owned by Paul Rodgers now?) as discussed on here:

http://www.stratossupersite.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2212&page=1&pp=15&highlight=steve+corse

There might be some more CFs, I don't know, but I'll bet there's more of them on the way?

Guy
If there's anything wrong with your car, I have'nt noticed!
There again, if you were'nt so picky it wouldn't look as good as it does?

Quite fancy a CF car. Remember watching it on the Manx in the hands of Andy Dawson!

Now how else could I make a comparison between the two breeds without trying one of each for myself. :)
As for Niki, he's got more than enough on his hands. Anyway HE doesn't have a garage or workshop ;)
And as for the new bathroom, (bugger) thats only a weekends distraction for a man of my calibre. :D :D

Only a bathroom? Lucky B*****! I'll have two bedroom floors, a kitchen (again - I've done 4 and each time I've said never again  ) Never again! And if I'm lucky, a new garage to build at the new place :) .

The number plate light should be white, not black. There ought to be covers over the fuel caps painted to match the body. Headlamp pods should be all black. I should have fitted jacking points and painted them yellow... Moved the steering wheel etc etc! Not that I'm changing anything now!

If i move again then i'm looking for a small house with a bloody huge garage :D My junk collection is getting out of control.

Todays little task was to arrange my stack of pallets into a modern sculpture on the front garden, alongside the manky mondeo. looks more like steptoe's yard eveyday :D

Headlamp pods should be all black.

I did notice the very top of the pods in red. I thought you'd done that so that if they ever were in the down position, they would match the surrounding colour?

I've got a skip coming tomorow for the junk, the pallets are going back to where they originated

Conservatory emptied out and cleaned up ready for it's new guest. Ok, i'll move the alfa block off the path, left it there for the burglars to trip over, had a few near 'do's' with it myself. Mike the apprentice is taking it to the blasters for cleaning this week so i should have a nice coffee table soon. Can't afford exotic magnesium sculptures though ( unlike some  ) i'll have to make do with me old engine.

Yep. I'm going to be in this territory in about two years' time. Places like this are thin on the ground though - at least round here.
