Started on the wiring using the loom and instructions supplied by Hawk.So far I have just two questions but I am sure more will follow!
Question 1. Where is the best place to fit the battery cut off master switch
it seems to fall naturally between the end of the handbrake lever and the gearlever but will foul both? Can't go forward as the main battery cable isn't long enough.
Question 2 The 9 pin multiplugs connecting the front lighting loom to the front harness appear to be permanent once you put them together is this right? I thought you could detach the front easily . Am I missing something simple?
Thanks in anticipation of expert advice

Get a longer battery cable and stick the master switch in the front tunnel moulding near the gearlever.

Choice of master switch location should depend on where you can reach it - especially if strapped in with harnesses and unable to stretch forward.
If the main cable is the wrong length, replace it for your own needs.
You may also want to fit a pull cable to operate it from outside the car; if so, consider where that will run too (and which way round it is mounted).
I've fitted my internal switch in front of the gearlever, to the forward end of the tunnel cover. Pull cable then runs from windscreen wiper 'scuttle' down and along the tunnel housing to a bracket I've mounted in front of the switch.
Multiplugs I had seen (have got) where not a permanent fixing - if so, it wouldn't be a 'plug and socket'!
Can you post a quick photo of the connectors concerned?

I've seen some cut offs switches mounted just below the rear window. Since that is on the way to the starter from the rear battery thats where mine ended up. If the battery ever migrates forward that may be a poor location for the cut off.
What are the 6 connections, obviously the 2 threaded are for the main cable/starter. The four (w and Z I think) are for ..........

They're for the separate ignition cut-off, and the other two ground the just-opened altenator circuit via a resistor so the alternator doesnit fry by being suddenly open circuit. I'll post the wiring diagram later.

Extra connections on the 'better' cutout switch are for the alternator sense wire. If the main battery lead is disconnected whilst the engine is running, the alternator will blow a gut (well, something) in trying to kick out indefinite charge. This form of cutout switch then diverts the sense/charge wire through an earthed connection, which is enough to show a load on the alternator charging circuit whilst the engine stops spinning.
I think I've got the Autolec wiring diagram for this switch somewhere. Should I dig it out and post a photo of it?

Beat ya!
At least I had an idea where this info was - and I'm working at home right now :)
