Whilst admiring my new paintwork I noticed that the front louvres were not radius, is this going to be my first real bollox moment or do they pass the sva?
What about the front grill and the rear side vents, the material supplied in kit looks a bit fine to pass the 2.5 test?

Hi shaun
So long as they don't have any sharp edges they should be fine (as non protruding) I've not heard of anyone having a problem here.
I didn't see the grill being checked at all either. Could be worth a call to an SVA station though about this one to confirm.
Just need to watch the aluminium part of the overcentre catches as they need to be radiused. Also I had a comment that my tank filler caps could also have done with a bit of the top edge taking off, but I got through ok.
Oh and the edges of the window slider on the inside need to be blunted too - they can get very sharp.
Sounds like it's really coming on. Will it be ready for the end of May? Might pay you a visit with Rumour control and little Sando...

It will be ready for May, will you all fit in your car! It might even go to mull, what a dream come true that would be. We may not be thinking of the same year though.
As for the X19 catches did you radius the black handle part and what covered the engine bay when no louvre panels were fitted? Guess I should purchase one of those SVA manuel things.

Hiya
Probably a few days in a hire car this time :( and I won't be alowed to drive quick either ;)
You don't need to alter the black part of the over-centre catch just the edges of the alloy mounting (with the 'nose' removed of course as well).
Engine bay just had the same extruded Aluminium mesh bonded underneath, same as I used for the front Grill.
There was a copy of the SVA Manual on line somewhere with a link on a post a couple of years ago. It was a draft of the last amendment and was pretty up to date.
I'll see if I can find it.

Hi Shaun,
I talked about this with my SVA inspector. He pointed out that the 2,5mm radius was aimed at features that project up or out from a 'surface' and as such, the louvres dont need checking. As Sando says, the catch blocks on the X1/9 clips do 'project' from the surface and as such, do need radiusing and he did check them. Also check the front side repeaters, (the long oval ones) they are touch and go depending on where he placed the radius gauge. Mine did pass but were close.
