Normal 2 pack or base coat and then a lacquer. The spray shop are saying that a base coat and then the lacquer are more suitable for polyester/f.g.

Any thoughts, ideas or other greatly appreciated before Tuesday after which it will be too late.

Hi Shaun,
Just shown this one to my son who is a paint sprayer and his comments are as follows. If by 2 pack, you are refering to solid colour, then the main advantage is that the paints, hardeners etc, are cheaper so it usually makes the whole job cheaper. :)
Disadvantages are that solid colours tend to dry and fade after about 2-3 years depending on the UV exposure. I suppose that would be something to consider in France. The other thing to consider is if you are having 'multiple colours or a livery' paint job because you tend to get a hard edge between colours rather than a smooth blend. :(
Base and laquer are slower drying due to being water based paints but, if you are going the multi-colour route, all the base colours are applied prior to laquer. When the laquer is applied, it blends over the colour edges so there is no noticable edge. The laquer also protects the paint from fading for longer, usually up to twice as long. :) This base & laquer route will almost certainly work out more expensive due to the extra time and cost of materials. :(
Hope this helps in making your decision. At the end of the day, it's your call.
Best of luck whichever way you choose. :)

Mick

Just what I wanted to know. After all the filling and sanding I need a near perfect finish, should know by the end of this week how it all works out.

Go for the "base coat and lacquer" version.

Consider how much work you probably have put into the whole project.

If I had done this I would definitely not try to save at the finish.
