Had a 'seat fitting' tonight, although it was temporary. My problem is that with the racing seat fitted i can't get in the bloody thing! Perhaps its because my back and knees won't bend. Has anybody got any tips? The seat is well reclined so i can fit my head in, my knees are just missing the dash, steering column/wheel placement is perfect now its been re-angled(up)What am i doing wrong?. I'll probably finish up buying one of those pop off wheel bosses once its passed sva!!

I'm afraid thats the answer. I'm (was!) quite slender and could just about make it with a smallish Momo and door bars; its a lot easier with the wheel detached. All very snug when you're in though (or claustrophobic depending how you see it).

I've got a removable wheel, but take it off as a 'security measure', not to get in and out of the car - although a bit easier when it is not in place.

I have also found that the Sparco seat must have stretched a little over the years, since I can still get my backside into the seat. And I thought the seat was 'snug' when first purchased a dozen years ago!

Some bucket seats will be worse than others, as you have to get your hips over the sides and may also be obstructed by the 'wings' on the upper sides of the seat. Add door-bars too for extra convolutions on entry and exit...

There is a knack though, which I'm sure you will get sorted for your own car+body combination :)

For a right hand drive car I've always put the left leg into the footwell, right hand on the sill, right leg into the footwell and drop into the seat.
Twister anyone?

Forgot - right hand on the sill, LEFT hand on the wheel, right foot in! Two points of contact are unstable whereas three is best - think of a milking stool!

Maybe door bars could actually help!. I have a spa pop off boss fitted to an x19 shaft, once its passed sva i'll swap it over for the normal x19 shaft. That should about do the trick.

I looked at that once at Demon Tweeks but came to the conclusion that with the stub welded to the shaft it would be impossible to get the column stalks onto the shaft. Did you manage it?
