Hello all, just joined and I guess you chaps are the most informed on which kit to purchase. I will be using an Alfa 164 V6 12V. I was not aware of the Napiersport Corse until I happened upon it today on Google ( I admit to skiving at work ) and I was wondering if it was dimensionally the same as the Straos as I understand the Hawk to be an accurate replica.

I note that the Corse has improved head and leg room for instance. Does this mean the car is larger or has a miracle Tardis like science been used?

As I have loved the Stratos since young and being a Lancia fan ( once had a Montecarlo ) I really want the car to look as close to the original. I would obviously be intersted in any links to sites that could save on the cost of any ancillary components needed and any links for the replica coffin spoked wheels.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Muzi27,

Welcome.

A much asked question this one. I'll avoid the usual 'do a search' reply for now :)

If you want the most accurate copy, then a Hawk it is. If you want a more modern suspension & chassis design , then a Corse I is the one for you.

You can make a Corse look very much like the original but it'll never be as accurate a copy as the Hawk. You can make a Hawk look not much like an original by choice of trim/fittings etc should you so wish. To be fair, the differences are small. If you want the replica coffin spokes, you are pretty much obliged to go for the Hawk as they won't fit the Corse due to different offset requirements. You can get wheels made to the coffin spoke style that do fit a Corse though. Some shots on this forum in fact.

It has been known for someone to fit Hawk body mouldings onto a Corse chassis but it was a lot of work and not for the fainthearted.

A 12V motor will fit fine in both.

The extra leg/head room. I believe the Corse has a bit more 'foot' room and is symmetrical. Headroom - wasn't aware there was a difference myself so hopefully someone can comment.

My forum name should give you a clue as to which car I have.

Hi and welcome toi the forum!
The coffin spokes are made be Compomotive wheels but are only available through Hawk Cars. It may also depend on stock levels at any one time. If there are none to your spec available then there will be a long wait until another batch is made. Economies of scale! Speak to Gerry at Hawk Cars to see whatthe situation is at the moment.

Wheels link - that's my car in the piccies but it doesn't look like that anymore........

Hi Muzi and welcome,

Regarding the question which is most accurate, I think that is a question that only you will be able to answer. What I mean is, how many original Stratii have you actually seen up close? I bet if the answer is more than one, they were different. That was the 'beauty of these beasts' they were all hand made with whatever parts were in the available bin.
Another point is that wherever you take your 'replica' people will be in awe of it. The majority of them will never have seen one anyway so they wont know the differences. :)
It just comes down to what you want as Corse Chris has pointed out already and, of course, what your budget is. On the subject of wheels, I had mine custom made to fit my Corse, and they were cheaper than the Hawk ones too. I admit they are not authentic but they suit my needs. ;)
Whatever you choose, best of luck. Decisions, decisions.
