Thanks again for your help.
Does anybody have a reference or the name of a donor cart for the cooling (air condionned) exchanger (or radiator?), (yes, I will have air contionning system on my car !) because the one of ALFA 164 is too high?

A condenser from a Lancia Montecarlo might fit. The radiator is the same size as the X1/9 donor used in the Stratos replicas.

Not sure if the extra heat would be too much for the radiator to deal with, on top of the larger engine.

There were quite a few beta fitted with clim. in france, maybe one of those would fit and work. Someone on here should be able to help:

If not I have one off an old land rover I'll sort out.

NF Auto Developments, do a very compact A/C condensing radiator (255x460mm) for £78.00 +vat, as well as a full A/C kit that I have installed in my car. Not completed the install yet!

+44 (0)1580 891309, fax 893733

Their webiste http://www.nfauto.co.uk contains all the info you'll need.

Cheers

I got my condensor radiator from NF Auto, although you should be able to get one from any decent A/C specialist as there are plenty of 'generic' items available in the parts catalogues.

Tricky bit is getting it all to fit! I'd have to check, but this is probably the one I bought and I found I had to trim away some of the radiator surround to clear the bodywork as the bonnet opens/closes.

I would be a bit dubious about using a second-hand condensor though. They have a hard life and do fail frequently, so a new one is probably the best way to start. Don't forget a new receiver/dryer as well.

Another point, as Scott suggests, heat can be an issue. I'm having cooling problems with my car (currently standard Lancia TC) and I suspect it may be due to the presence of the A/C condensor in front of the coolant radiator. It covers about 2/3 of the width and all of the height. I'm having a new, much thicker rad made at the moment which should solve it. I find the temperature does rise a bit quicker with the A/C on, but it still goes higher than I'd like with it off so I suspect the main problem is lack of airflow.

The other question with it all is if the A/C rad you use is actually big enough in itself. No easy way to tell other than trying it! My system coped well in the few hot (for us) days we have had recently. Does a fantastic job of clearing a misted up screen as well.

Good luck though. It's not an easy option, but well worth the effort for a road car I think.
