Doesn't look like it includes the spring plate to mount it though.
I paid nearly double that to get one from the States :(
Most second hand ones have splits in the plastic grip, so good ones are getting rare.

I've checked with the seller - this does not include the retaining plate

I,ve just received one of these locks-totally mint but as you pointed out Chris, lacking some fitting bits. Does anybody have any phots of how they should be mounted properly, before I try and do something myself?.
Cheers

THIS SHOWS THE SPRING PLATE THAT FITS IN THE GROOVES ON THE BARREL. THE UNDERSIDE OF THE BOOT LID NEEDS CUT BACK A BIT TO ACCOMMODATE. (AS WELL AS A HOLE DRILLED THROUGH IT ;) )
Sorry, just realised I've been shouting! :)

Chris you are aware that this lock and keys are not like the original at all, right?

No, I didn't Tryphon. It's not a bit that's been photographed in close up, attached is the best I've got, which looks similar - but then so does my Volvo glovebox lock! If you can tell us what it should be, it would be appreciated!

I would if I had access to my car which is still undergoing lots of upgrades for and has been doing so for months and months...
I can take a picture of the key if that's any help.

I still haven't fitted the new boot lock yet - incase it isn't right, does anybody know for sure or got reference to the real deal ( if this isn't it!)

That photo is of a Lancia. Interesting that the pics of the one for sale that Tryphon posted in another thread had no visible external bits.

Hi Chris, thanks for trying to help on this. Can I view the image Tryphon posted?. I think the one you pointed me to in Germany looks as correct as I can make out (going by any photos I can see) but I just want to be sure before I drill a bigger hole in the boot lid!.
Cheers

This is the photo I was referring to. It's from the publicity for a car for sale. Look, no bootlock! Never seen that before, but the are of the bootlock is seldom visible on photos.

Thanks for that Chris, like I said, from all the pictures I can find, the one you suggested from a Beta glovebox looks right and from what I've read this was the one they used. Tryphon - anything to enlighten us?!.

I'd love to help with close-up pictures but at the mo I' working 80Km away from home, commuting daily. Hard to get to the car which is another 20Km away. As soon as I visit the workshop I'll post pictures. This should clarify this long discussed issue.

I don't know if it was ever established that the Beta glovebox lock was the lock that was used for the bootlid - I think it's the closest thing that anyone was able to find that looked like the bootlid lock, and was (more or less) readily available.
On the subject of bootlid locks - did any of the original cars use a remote release for the bootlid? The rear bodywork release (from the X1/9) has two separate handles, and I think only one is needed for the bodywork catches. If I'm mistaken, please let me know.

Since Tryphon is out of action, can anybody else with an original manage to post a pic of their bootlock? Reed? Gary? Randle?

Scott, I read recently in an old article that one lever released the engine cover and the other was a remote boot lid release. I must admit I was quite surprised, I mean it's almost civilised!.

that would fit with the pictures on this thread, but would it cause a lot of complication on the build? Would there need to be some sort of spring effect on the hinges to get the boot lid up?
Would seem that there are still lots of unanswered questions, just goes to show that even the simplist of detail can be time consuming on these cars.

That's what the caption on picture 29 (p39) of the SuperProfile book says. However, all the cars pictured in that book have a visible external bootlock of the sort that we're used to. Are there therefore 2 ways of unlocking the boot? As Bob says, it seems damned civilised and way ahead of it's time (erm, should I be surprised at that?).
Nigel Trow's book also shows dozens of different cars, all with external locks - the one pictured above with no lock appears to be unique.

The outmost lever unlocks the rear section on Stradale cars. There's an emergency release ring behind it in case it stucks.
I couldn't find the use of the innermost lever. Maybe it's only there because it's sourced from the X1/9 on which it must have some use?
Checked the owner's manual too, they do talk about the use of the outmost lever but don't mention anything on the innermost. I must admit the owner's manual is quite spartan in all aspects....
One thing is for sure. The second lever does NOT unlock the boot. There's no provision for such a functionnality.
Can't get to the car this weekend so no pictures yet.

Pictures, not the greatest I've ever made, but I hope they help.
Note this is how my "new" lightweight bootlid is mounted, on the original stradale it was almost similar.

Thanks for the shots, the one I got from Germany is 99.9% identicle (Beta glovebox) so I'll go ahead and fit it now.
Cheers Bob.
