Found this link from the Ferrari forum I frequent. Looks like a very nice setup.

Certainly looks interesting Jeff. I'd love to see some figures.

Had a look at some other posts on the bulletin board. JJ quotes $7000.00 dollars plus a core unit, for a 3.7 24v crate motor, with 325 to 350 hp. I think this includes a modified 75/milano plenum too. Aftermarket ecu and loom at around $900.00 dollars. If sending a core unit there are obviously shipping charges to pay so its better to pay a 2000 dollar charge instead.

I think he does a supercharged 3.45 litre version with 500 plus hp, I'm waitng for a price on that one. Stock crank and rods but big liners and pistons.

i don't know what AH motorsports want for an equivalent but seems a good price. Still enough though!!!

All of this lot is done in south africa.

Hi. Spoke to AHM about this a short while ago.

They charge about 2500 +vat for the 3.5 kit - either 12v or 24v.
That is just exchange block, liners, pistons etc.
They estimated complete built engine with ecu, re-worked heads and cams to be around 6-8k. No actual quoted bhp figures though!

They are ok doing a 12v engine but prefer working on the 24v as it is more tuneable and higher output to start with.

i sort of gulped and said thanks, 6 grand at least

Oh well. swappin from 12v to 24v should get me to about 240 and this would be way cheaper than modding my trusty old 12 valver.

But, i believe there is plenty of life in her yet, so who knows what i'll do to her next.... :D

Who needs more power when you can already keep up with military jets!
:D :D :D

Cheers

Seemingly, one thing that keeps the cost down with the SA engines is that the liners are a stock part for a yank truck or something, and they have a different piston supplier. Also the exchange rate makes things a little more favourable.

I will try to aquire some more information.

OOps, price is for a 3.45 ltre, add $2000.00 dollars for the 3.7 (Gta crank plus other bits. Power output at 300hp, Its the 3.7 with up to 350. Oh and it doesn't include the plenum and 50mm runners, add another $900.

The kit is from Glenwood motors in South Africa, I think the chaps name is Dawie de Villiers.

Yikes, that is getting to be some serious cash. I do know of Dawie de Villiers in that he is THE Alfa V6 tuner in South Africa and well known for producing very good engines. He tunes the Alfa V6 to around 700bhp (and maybe more).

May just be cheaper to get that Dino V6 you always dreamed of.... :p
