I had the wheel box break on my way home from the Rally supercar day on Saturday-only about 200 miles from home in a complete down pour!. I bought the Lucas wheel box as supplied to Hawk but my old one had a nut to hold the arm on. The new one doesn't so I am going to have to change to a push on arm. Does anybody know which arm and blade is the right one please?.

Thanks Bob.

Bob

I'm pretty sure the wheel box that should be sourced is from an Austin Maxi, but there are bound to be other British cars with similar wheelboxes. Unfortunately all of them are too old to be in scrapyards these days.

I know that Europa sell one as part of a kit, and Holdens do too.

The one you've got hold of sounds like a Mini type.

Someone might/will know more than I do??

Thanks for trying to help Chris. I've just got back from a weeks holiday so I didn't get your message. I dont seem to have much choice other than to go with the new wheel box and buy a new arm and blade and hope that the push fit is good enough without the nut and washer of the old type.

Cheers

Bob.

There's one here on ebay:

'Can't quite tell for sure from the photo if it's the one you want?

Chris, thanks for the info. It looks identical to the one I have, with a straight splined end (as opposed to tapered) so I guess I'm looking for an arm and blade of the correct lengths.

Cheers
Bob.

I need a wiper arm as well, I got my wheel box off a Mini. Can anybody make a suggestion as to the right fitment?

It looks like we've been there before:

http://www.stratossupersite.com/forum/showthread.php?t=436&highlight=wiper+wheelbox

This is just a guess. If there are two 'push on' lucas wiper types (Mini and TR7), the Mini size is too small, that is, if only Mini arms fit the Mini wheelbox?

I have actually got a pair of Mini arms lying around and they look like something off a toy car, compared (two thirds scale!).

Maybe Rimmer Brothers can help?

Wheelbox shown in above has a nut, so that's confusing??

Price for that one is £38.51 including vat., by the way.

And there's these too:

Mine has a bolt on type, so it would seem to be the same as a TR7??

Right,..... I've had enough of this now, before I turn into a wiper arm and spindle anorak. If that hasn't already happened?!

I spoke to Martin at Hawk a week ago and he told me that they got theirs for the current demo car from a motor factors he thinks was called SOC. He wasn't sure but I think they no longer supply Hawk after a bit of a fall out. He says their is a 17 inch arm and 22 inch blade. I guess I'll have to drive to a local motor factor with the car and ask them what they've got.

Forgive me...but have you tried Halfords Bob? They do quite a range of generic arms & wipers.

So, has anyone used a Mini wheel box or is the TR7 one better?

I do like the idea of holding the arm on with a nut as I can see the arm working loose on the Mini one. (think I may have answerd my own question)
