Well, guess who's car just went through the MOT test without a problem. Just a couple of minor adjustments to headlamp alignment. What a relief that was. I have to admit, the first journey on the road, in the rain, was a bit of a nervous time. Listening for every noise, as you do. Aren't these things twitchy. Mind you it may have something to do with the fact that all the wheels are still pointing in slightly different directions. These V6's do have some grunt dont they. Cant wait till I can use it in anger. Just waiting for confirmation of the SVA date now. :)

Mick (or anyone else)

I thought the SVA test meant that you wouldn't need an MOT test for three years?, but obviously not?

I'm not really up to speed with all this.

That was my thought as well, as it off set some of the cost for the SVA!

Maybe you only get exempted from MOT for three years if you go the all new parts/new registration route. I'm only guessing.

I believe that once the car has passed the SVA, you dont need an MOT for three years anyway, regardless of what parts you use. I only decided to put the car through an MOT to satisfy myself that things were up to standard such as brake efficiency, emmisions etc. I think it would be a potential waste of time and money to go to SVA not knowing these things were OK.
It is not necessary to have an MOT. I just thought it useful for peace of mind.

Well done Fabrizio!

My understanding of the SVA / MOT question is all about how the car is registered not about the SVA test. I.E. registered as a car rebuilt from parts (kit) and getting and age related plate, can still be registered for the first time as new, so hence no MOT needed for 3 years. In the past different DVLA offices have interpreted this in different ways, but you will be ok at Nottm Mick as this is how the vehicle inspector / they see it. (Anyway you have an MOT now so it doesn't matter!!! :) )

Cheers
